Freshmen Girls Win 'Zi' Invite, Place Five in Top Ten

Monday, September 30 2013 - Emma Wilson

Winning the first ever freshmen girls title in program history, the Lady Eagles placed five in the top ten at Washington Park on Saturday to win the Whitney Young 'Zi' Invitational.

Led by newcomer Emma Wilson's runner-up finish, Jones scored twenty-eight points over second place Lane Tech's sixy-two points, which was good enough for the win.  Also finishing in the top five were Charlotte Geissler (3rd) and Rachel Jones (4th), while Ciara Greene and Olivia Wagner also turned in personal bests to finish in the top ten, landing at ninth and tenth respectively.

The top five finishers for Jones also all finished faster than the Eagles' top freshman did in 2012 at the same invite.

In the sophomore girls race, sophomore Grace Kilpatrick led the Eagles, finishing just outside the top twenty in twenty-third place, while junior captain Daisy Mora led the varsity team with a fourty-fourth place finish in her first three mile race of the year.
