Twenty-Two Eagles 'PR' at Muddy St. Charles North InviteSaturday, October 5 2013
Despite muddy conditions following heavy rains, many Jones harriers stepped up and set big personal bests at the St. Charles North Invite on Saturday held at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in Saint Charles, Ill. The biggest personal records on the day went to Eric Wong (1 minute, 24 seconds), Olivia Wagner (1 minute, 12 seconds), Armani Kongmanivong (1 minute, 8 seconds), Daniel Garcia-Rico (54 seconds) and Kalvin Lee (52 seconds). Also recording big PRs were Zach Benes (22s), Marty Chappetto (19s), Gustavo Colunga (27s), Daryl Cordova (16s), Miguel Morales (27s), Milo Nuno (30s), Enrique Sanchez (23s), Diego Serrano (20s), Taylor Mazique (21s) and Emma Wilson (23s).
Several underclassmen Eagles also stepped up to earn Varsity spots on the day: Nik Merten ran a five second 'PR' to finish as the team's fourth man in 16:05 while Emma Wilson's time from the frosh-soph race would have made her the fifth girl on the Lady Eagles varsity squad.
The team has one more weekend of 'tune-up' races (Jimmy Daniels/Nike Northside v Southside Challenge) before beginning the championship season in historic Washington Park at the Chicago Public League Championships on October 19th.
