November 7th Marks "Jones College Prep Boys Cross Country Team Day" in City of Chicago

Thursday, November 7 2013

A year ago to the day Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaimed November 7th "Jones College Prep Boys Cross Country Team Day" in the City of Chicago.  Mayor Emanuel visited Jones for an official ceremony and spoke about the hard work and commitment of the team on their journey to winning the 2012 IHSA Class 2A State Championship- the first CPS team to do so since 1963.

“Today is the culmination of a long journey that you started together, and you are showing today
that Chicago is truly a city of champions,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Your hard work and dedication is
an inspiration to us all and serves as a reminder of the success our students can achieve both on
and off the field."

The Eagles wish to thank Mayor Emanuel for taking the time to visit the team and for his continued support of the program.

On a historical note the Mayor visited only hours after wrapping up celebrations for the successful reelection of President Barack Obama.
